A Quick Social Networking News Break, With a Small Dose of the Fantastic

02/23/2010 | , , , ,

It seems like most of the recent social networking news has a certain common element – they all missed the eight-ball.  Some may give you a quick chuckle, while others are just downright scary. My ranking on a scale of amusing scratch (3) to those who may need to get out their granny stick (1):

threeFarmVille surpassed 80 million monthly users (Mashable’s Pete Cashmore provides some stats)

twoGoogle’s Buzz broadcasts kids’ conversations (good read on the topic by Charlene Li)

oneAccording to MarketingVox, Comverse is set to release an app combining social marketing and facial recognition software .  Can we say “creeeeeeepy”?

I’m sure all of these folks are hoping for a double elimination ruling to keep them in the game, but the artistic minds at Boston.com got it right with their first break. A collection of fantastic Vancouver 2010 shots … There are still ways to share intense emotion, unity and awe without the need for any words at all.

Special thanks to my pool lingo resource!
